About Youth
for Environmental Sanity (YES!)
Youth for Environmental Sanity (YES!) was founded by John Robbins'
son, Ocean Robbins, in 1990, when Ocean was sixteen years old. He
says, "I wanted to carry on the spirit of my dad's work to
the next generation, providing youth with the knowledge, skills,
and support they needed to live in alignment with their values."
Today, YES! educates, inspires, and empowers young people to join
forces for social justice and
environmental sanity. YES!'s work helps youth to build community,
connect with a sense of meaning and purpose in their lives, live
in integrity with their highest life commitments, and take a stand
for the world they want to help shape. John Robbins is the active
chair of YES!'s board.
Members of YES! have spoken in person to more than 610,000 students
in school assemblies, held 66 weeklong youth action training camps
and hundreds of daylong workshops, and been involved in the formation
of more than 400 nonprofit clubs and organizations working for positive
change. YES! offers weeklong summer camps (with delicious plant-based
meals) for young people ages 15 to 30 who want to make a difference
in the world. Through camps, public speaking, event facilitation,
organizing manuals, yesworld.org, and a support network for young
activists, YES! is committed to helping a generation claim its voice
and build a world it can be proud to pass on to its grandkids. To
