Frequently Asked QuestionsHow do you decide which interviews to play when?
Each week has a theme, and for that week we broadcast three interviews on the theme of the week. We change themes every Sunday. You can visit the calendar page to see the upcoming schedule. And if you want downloads and transcripts of all 24 interviews that you can keep forever, as well as a collection of 12 free bonus offers, check out the Empowerment Package. When I click on a link in the calendar, I find that the event is over or hasn't started yet. Why?
Each event has its own link on the calendar page. Only the links for the week you are in will actually work for currently available interviews. Check your dates to know which interviews are currently available.Do I need a code to listen to the webcast?
No. Just click on a link.I got the Empowerment Package and want to download the recordings and put them on a CD. How?
- To save files to your hard drive, Right click (Windows) or Ctrl-click (Mac) on the download link and select the option to save the file (e.g. "Save Link As" in Firefox or Chrome or Safari, "Save Target As" in Internet Explorer).
- After the file is on your computer, you can import it into iTunes by clicking on the iTunes File menu, and clicking "Add File to Library". Or, you can import it into any other desktop jukebox (e.g. doubleTwist for Android).
- iTunes and similar applications allow you to create CDs, or you can play the files directly from your mobile device.
We made all of the 2012 Food Revolution Summit's initial broadcasts and replays available for free and that enabled us to reach tens of thousands of people. Now we are making three recordings available weekly. In time, we look forward to finding other ways to make this content available, and we are currently considering blogs, books, and more. We also offer the Empowerment Package for a fee, and we hope this will enable us provide some added value to those who want it while also covering operating costs and hopefully generating enough funding to support future projects.Where does the money go for sales of the Empowerment Package? Are you just trying to make money?
Much of our outreach is done by affiliates who receive up to 50% of revenues from any sales they help generate. Our affiliates are spreading the word to many hundreds of thousands of people, and we are grateful to them. As well, many of them are non-profit organizations that are doing wonderful work we are glad to support. There are also many hard costs including website design and development, infrastructure, list management, call hosting, organizing staff time, customer support, getting calls transcribed, etc. Empowerment package sales cover these costs. We didn't get in this line of work for the money (if money were our goal, John Robbins probably never would have left Baskin-Robbins!), but of course it helps if we can be sustained doing good work. And if we are successful, we will be able to offer more summits in the future.Do you have employment available?
We don't have funds to be opening any staff positions, but we do welcome volunteers to help this message reach more people. In specific, we can use help with web design, blog articles, blog editing and moderation, web development, and customer support. If you have skills and are interested in helping with any of these tasks, please visit our volunteer page to share your background and level of availability, and to request more information on our needs.
